Kristina (Tina) Frank
MS, RN, CS, APNP
Welcome, I feel it is important that you know a little bit about me professionally and personally. Professionally, I am a psychiatric child/adolescent clinical nurse specialist certified by ANCC (American Nurse’s Credentialing Center). I am also an APNP (advanced practice nurse prescriber) with prescriptive authority privileges. I received my BSN at the University of WI -Oshkosh in 1987 and my Master’s Degree at the University of MN in 1996.
I have spent 13 years in private practice in Eau Claire working with all patient populations (adults, teens, and children). During that time, I had also worked part-time at Luther Behavioral Health Services as a prescriber, as well as working a few days a week at Southwoods Counseling Clinic, LLC. I also served on the Department of Human Services 211 –Behavioral Health Crisis Team for Eau Claire County.
Prior to private practice, I managed an adolescent psychiatric unit at two inpatient hospitals in Milwaukee, as well as worked on adolescent and adult addiction/substance abuse units. I moved to the Twin Cities in 1992. I obtained my Master’s Degree at the U of MN and worked for a managed health care company in Minneapolis.
Due to my husband’s job transfer, we were brought to Eau Claire in 1996. I started my private practice and co-authored a few journal articles highlighting the role of a Clinical Nurse Specialist. I had also taught undergraduate nurses psychiatric nursing at UWEC and at the University of MN.
In 2012, I decided to take some time off due to some changes in my husband’s career, which resulted in the need for me to be more available to our two children. The timing of this change was good as I was feeling a “calling” to do more with my experience and credentials. It was during this time which I began to familiarize myself with Martin Seligman’s work in Positive Psychology, which I have become quite passionate about.
I am currently registered in Tal Ben Shahar’s Positive Psychology certification course through The Kripalu Center in MA. I will obtain my certification in March of 2014. With that certification, I plan to consult and educate teens and adults about the research based interventions that promote and increase happiness and well-being.
I am different from a life coach in that I have the counseling/therapy background and credentials which will allow me to discern very quickly what your needs are. If I cannot provide you with what you need, I have the expertise to connect you to the appropriate resource. My nursing background has also provided me the skills to understand and in some cases treat holistically a medical condition (s) that you may have. I have a special interest in integrative medicine, and believe strongly in the mind, body, spirit connection.
Personally, I want to share with you that I have battled with anxiety my entire life. As a result, I have taken a special interest in helping others to find more peace and calm in their lives. In addition to peace and calm, I want to help others learn the tools to flourish and to become overall healthier and happier.
I live in Eau Claire with my husband, two kids and our dog. I am faith-based, love the outdoors and I am a life-long “student of life”. Thank you for visiting this site. If you have any questions, I would love to hear from you.
